The Safest Way to Check Your Car Battery

Testing your car battery is easy, and all you are going to need is a voltmeter, gloves, safety goggles, and a small wire brush. Be sure the car's lights and engine have been turned off, open the hood, and give the battery terminals a good cleaning with the wire brush.

The voltmeter has a red and black cable. The red cable will be attached securely to the positive end of the car battery, the black goes to the other battery terminal. Test the battery. The reading will need to be at or above the 12.4 mark to signify a good battery. Anything under 12.2 means that the car battery not only is weak, it may not have enough charging power left to crank over the car engine anymore.

If the car battery is failing, don't delay in getting to our auto service facility so we can give your car's charging system a complete checkup.
